DSTV in Guesthouses?

Well to start off. I don't know much about these extra views, dual view, the eyes and so on. My question is, is it possible to channel 1 subscription to 10 other rooms/TV sets with their own preferred viewing?
 
Nope. Was at a guest house the other day. Saw 12 decoders in the office lit up like xmas time. I asked how many rooms they had: "Twelve" came the reply.
 
From what I know, the answer is no.

To have like 10 DSTV channels in each room without a decoder in each room, you will need 10 DSTV decoders in a head-end, which is then connected to each TV.

Thats how the hotels work and thats why you can select channel 2 on the TV for example, and get CNN for example.

Depending on what channels you want, perhaps its best to get a small subscription and a DSTV decoder for each room.

I have heard of a "hotel" package so you could be able to get the subscription cheaper, probably depending on how many units you take.

I think its coincidental that there are 12 decoders and 12 rooms i.e. each decoder not linked to each room because otherwise, how would they change channels on the decoder? Probably they choose 12 channels (a decoder for each channel) and distributing that to the TV's as 12 channels so only the TV remote is required to change channels to view the provided satelite channels.

You might be right there. I'll ask the guys there next time I pop in.
 
Yes I understand that you need 10 more decoders and eyes what ever in each room. But my question is, without worrying too much about hardware costs, is it possible to channel 1 subscription to 10 more other TV sets.

Your original post said "with their own preferred viewing" . :)

I reckon you can split a signal and channel it to multiple tv's, can't see why not. I used to do it with three screens all receiving the same channel at once.

(Edit: Everyone's got to watch the same thing, obviously...)

So, the answer is no, I deduce. You can't have more than two different channels playing on more than two TV sets.

So you essentially in this case, you need 5 DSTV subsriptions (5 x 2 (dual/extra view?)) for the TV sets? Correct?
 
But you can alwas split the view. Which is not what she desires. Thanks anyways.
 
You pay an amount per channel, per room (imagine what the monthly is for a 200 room hotel playing 20 channels). There is a link to the commercial subscription agent for each province, somewhere on the DStv website. Speak to one of them. You can not do Xtraview in a guesthouse... You can contact me by PM for enquiries about hardware.

Yes but actually approach dstv directly they do have special plans for hotels etc. Like special bouquets and stuff. Also they do have an IPTV offering now open only to hotels and such, it could be better because its a complete pay per view system.
