-bought my install kit for 1399...(complete package)
-installer tells me I can't get signal because of this big tree infront of my flat...nice one.
-BUT for a extra 450 he can get me a extended pole and move the installation to the otherside of the flat....
-now i'm waiting for him to contact me to do the install for the 2nd time...
- i can see this is going to be an exspensive exercise...

If you want my cousin is a DSTV installer PM me then I will give you his number maybe you get a better quote. His in the Brackenfell area but covers the entire Cape Town.

Always shop around when it comes to installers. My ex brother inlaw ended up paying over R3000 for his DSTV installation after buying the Special from AreaSAT R1299.99 optional extras they call it :whistling:

If you get AereaSat to do your installation, you must be crazy...

Its ridiculous, you pay R3000 for the unit and them another couple grand to install it, WTF!!
Do you have a walk through guide on how to do it?
What happens if I threaten to cancel it till they install it for me? Will it work?

My unit cost me R2500 on a special.

The process I followed was simple. I checked on the DSTV forums, and found a lot of guys are doing it on there own.

Changed my single LNB for a duel LNB, ran a second cable to where my decoder is. Put in a 8 way splitter 2 in 6 out(the extra 1 was for extra view and 1 spare), run 4 short cables to the back of the HDPVR. Force a down load all the updates (this took over an hour), and you should be up and running.

/edit. Before the updates I had all the channels scrambled, and could see some channels that are not on normal DSTV.

I even linked up the "extra view" second decoder on my own.
