Not nearly enough intl content ??? Puhleeeze !
Take the top 6 teams on the IRB rankings. Broadcasting their individual leagues and cups, as well as the intl tournaments will provide more than enough content. Add to that the FNB classic matches, Craven Week, Sevens, and all the rugby talk/news shows from around the planet, and you've got the makings of a Rugby channel.
Take all of that rugby and compare it to soccer.
You get 5 or 6 FIFA fedarations some of which have as many as 50 members. Only 32 can participate in the finals so you have hundreds of qualifying competions going on for 4 years before the WC...That's just national teams
You get big leagues like the Premiership, the Bundesliga, LaLiga, SirieA, playing games every weekend. I won't even mention smaller leagues like the French, Portuguese, Argentinian, Brazilian, PSL, etc.
And then those teams participate in continental club competions like the Champions league..
You get federation competions like the Copa America, Euro Cup, Africa Cup, Gold Cup, etc. going on every 2 years. There are qualifiers as well for those federation competitions except for the Americas. Winners of such competions play in yet another competion, the Confedarations Cup just before the WC.
As you might have noticed, this is only top flight football. I didn't even mention the developement sides under 23/21 under 20's, under 17's. I also did not mention variations like women's soccer, beach soccer, indoor soccer, etc.
Isn't rugby also a seasonal sport ?
