Was reading the DSTV forum tonight and came upon a thread enquiring about the consistent incorrect numbering of series episodes on the DSTV EPG. The reply from MC was as follows:

"Due to the fact that we are often supplied with inconsistent season and episode numbers, we now use one season number where channels broadcast from more than one season at any given time. While this means that the season and episode numbers are not always available, it also means that PVR users will not generally miss an episode due to inconsistent season or episode numbers received from the channel. However, it is important to note that should a new method of numbering be introduced, it will yield all current series-based recordings null and void."

:D WTF? Does MC use a random phrase generator to answer queries these days? lol!

I wonder what new numbering system they are waiting for - the "S01E03" system seems to worl for the rest of the world... Am I missing something?

It's their way of saying; "We will number it the way we want [i.e. in a way that makes you think you are watching new content]. Take it or leave it".

Basically nullifying the complaint and legitimising their misguidance.

Multichoice, take the profits from 20 subscribers and send one of your most elite staff members on a raft to a country called the USA. Once he has paddled ashore, he should visit the Smithsonian and find a device called a TiVo from the year 2000. Ask around using the local dialect for the chief who wrote the code for that 10 year old device. Pay him 1/10th of your CEO's salary to travel by flying bird to South Africa and help you bring your POS hardware up to year 2000 standards.
