DSTV no TV Guide

I got myself the HD PVR2 decoder on Extra View.
The TV guide doesn't load.
What could be the problem?

Everything else works fine...
 
Did you do a self install or have an installer come out? IIRC the 2nd LNB provides the TV Guide info.

Yip self install. There was only one LNB with the previous setup.
 
A dish only uses one LNB, but you may need a Dual LNB, i.e. two cables coming out of it

If you going to install the second cable, you might as well replace the first cable if it was installed a few years ago.
 
If you have extra view and aren't using a SatCR cable, then you should have 3 cables running to your PVR. 2 for your LNB inputs and 1 heartbeat cable. Is the other decoder on your extra view using the same dish as your PVR? If it is, did you install a multi switch?
 
But everything else works fine. Hd channels, supersport active etc all fine.

The decoder has two lnb inputs and my previous one has one lnb input.

I have two hd decoder setup with extra view.
Is there no other way to configure it?
 
Can you explain your previous setup and your setup now. What was existing and what have you now installed?

Ok

Previous setup
HD pvr 1 + SD decoder (small silver box decoder)

New setup
HD pvr 1 + HD pvr 2

I marked all the cables from SD decoder and inserted exactly as the old setup.
Only difference with the new decoder is one extra lnb port.

Rf in and rf out exactly as the old setup.
Plugged in the one lnb to satellite in 1 satcr on the decoder.
 
There is your problem. The HD pvr 2 needs 2 lnb cables. LNB 1 (SATCR) does your live TV, LNB 2 does your TV Guide. You only need the one LNB if you have a SatCR installation.
 
Yes, there isn't a way to get passed it (except R1000 SATcr). You need two cables coming in.
Is your catch up working? That also downloads on the second port.
 
Can you record? No
Do you have any Catch Up titles? No
Do you have any Box Office titles? No
Can you do a software update? No

So ja, not everything else works

You can instal a dual LNB yourself, just mark the single LNBs position and hopefully put the dual LNB at the same angle. Have some inside check the signal on vertical & horizontal channels while you align it
 
Yip recordings also not working.

I do have a dual lnb on the dish but the cable goes into an adapter switch thing for the hd pvr 1.

What is RF in and RF out for?
 
Thats called a multiswitch, on the open port on the multiswitch (next to your current LNB), just attached another lnb cable and run it to the HD PVR, RF In and Out in the case of Xtraview is used for your heartbeat cable. Normally Out on primary and in on secondary decoder (but it really doesn't matter so long as your settings correspond to your installation.
