Hi Guys

At my house we've never had DSTV but now my mom wants to get it in order to watch some of the shows she's been hearing about from friends. Now would a Single View Decoder be ok or would I need to get an Explora?
Also when at stores they say on an advert "DSTV Single View Decoder Fully Installed", does that mean that someone is going to come and install it?

Thanks for the help.

Weren't you the one with a million extra costs and Black Tax and such? Wouldn't the DSTV money be better spent on other things?

Anyway, Single View should be fine assuming you plan on just using one TV. Yes they need to install it.

DO you have a satellite dish already?

"DSTV Single View Decoder Fully Installed" means fully installed yes but limited to about 25metre cabling.

Also confirm if the price includes the dish.

And yes the single view decoder will be okay but I would suggest the Explora because catch-up is something cool. Alternatively the PVR, so that if your mom misses a show she can atleast record it and watch it later on.

knowing a bit about you via your post history here I can make 2 assumptions.
1) you are not looking to watch sport.
2) you are not looking to watch Afrikaans series.

those are the only 2 valid reason to get DSTV.

all the other shows can be streamed using netflix, showmax, or KODI if you are open to the idea.

save money, get better internet and a decent way to stream. much better solution for the problem posed.

I watch series on my laptop and mostly play games so it's for her really.

I will be honest, I did not even know that channel existed.
also, if watching sport is a thing, then request a name change, you might give goths a bad name :p

Lol you understand me, if only we could stream it

Well after you sign up, you are able to watch them on the DSTV Now site and app. Albeit I don't know what packages this is allowed on.
<removed maybe stream it plug>

For your own sanity, a dish and a decoder will make you life easy. You don't wanna be summoned when they wanna watch something.

Lol yeah I think I'll get her the decoder and dish. I have been struggling for a week to teach her her new smartphone. She called me because she can't Whatsapp my sister.
