DSTV Now on Sinotec

Hi! Can anyone please help me. I recently bought a Sinotec Smart TV & would like to watch DSTV Now on it but the TV doesn't support Google Play. I downloaded it via APK pure but the tv won't register as a device on DSTV Now. When I spoke to DSTV they advised that I should get a Chromecast device. I have fibre so I don't know if that will work. What would you recommend I do? Thank you in advance

Chromecast just receives content from apps and devices and displays it onto your TV while an Android box has android installed on it which enables you download android apps and use on your tv.

if you just want to show content on your tv then the chromecast, if you want to also install apps and use it on your tv then an android box or an android tv box ( that has Google cast built-in)

After using both an Android box and a chrome cast, I can definitely say the chrome cast is superior, as most apps that run on your phone in terms of media, are chromecast compatible (even surprisingly DSTV)

Didn't use a CC long before ditching it for a box.
As I understand it, all it does is mirror what's on your smartphone onto you tv, without a phone it's useless.

A box on the other hand is pc using Android software. As a media player can play all formats and then there's Kodi.

Well, not exactly. It can mirror your device, yes, but I rarely use mine like that.

I load a stream from my phone (from a variety of streaming apps) click cast, and the cc takes over from there. I can then even switch off my phone and the stream will keep going. I could do the same with a tab or pc. So it's not as dependant on the actual device as you say.

Yes, without a pc, phone or tab, it's useless. But I have all of those.

Showmax and DSTV now are not supported on Sinotec TV. Been trying unsuccessfully for months to get apps to work. i am able to load the apps , but receive DRM errors. contacted Showmax - Sinotec is not supported by them to play content and suggested i use a TV box...

yip, that's basically what all these post from back in 2017 is telling you ... TV-box or Chromecast

Download dstv or Netflix on a memory stick from your laptop then download it via your USB onto your Sinotec TV
