DSTV offer 'free' installations

oh yes....it looks as if topTV has really rocked MultiChoice....they must be bleeding customers....

looks like their monthly revenue stream is going to be maxed out soon if the lose more customers...

anyone get the same sence...?

no....R499...
Okay, so R499.
It doesn't make a difference.
If the original price (which was only slightly subsidised by MC) was R499, how can the new price (which is supposedly highly subsidised by MC) be R649 including a 'free' installation?

It's costing me R150 more than it was initially so the installation obviously isn't 'free'.

The dish is not free, but also subsidised. The installation is free.

Point taken. However, they need to be clearer then. Stating that it's a free installation implies that it includes the cost of the dish.
How annoyed would we all have been had TopTV decided to use this same logic when advertising 'free installation'?

what? DSTV Decoders used to cost less than the monthly subscription?

hahahahaaaa!

The blogger put it like that. As far as I know DSTV marketing says "R649 fully installed".

The heavily subsidised Top TV install will also go up to R699 (maybe they'll adjust with this new DStv offer) when the opening special is finished.

Ah, so I have an invalid gripe. Darn, I thought I was going to become famous with this little tidbit..........

This launch from DSTV will go on offer from 15th of May, have seen it on Makro, trade centre and game adverts.

If I remember correctly dstv including installation came to around R999 or R1200

Does that mean I can take out a R20. Package from MultiChoice.

If so I am going to buy the decoder.

I love the new competition already, just shows us how much MC has been sucking from us per month

That is correct. The installation isn't subject to the activation of any particular bouquet.

Yes, you can, but not sure it's actually worth it based on what you get. Unless you just want the set-up for a possible future upgrade to one of the more expensive packages.

Ironically, I had this discussion with a colleague this morning. His analogue aerial on his roof is fried and apparently he's found that it will cost around R300 to get somebody to come install another one. Based on that, it's better to spend the extra bit on a satellite installation instead. At least then, for R20 a month, he can get crystal-clear picture on the SABC/E channels. (And a few extra channels thrown in for good measure.
