DSTV on 3 or 4 different viewing environments

Hey Peeps,

So I am trying to figure out how to setup DSTV with at least 3 different viewing environments. 4 if possible. My original plan was just to setup 2 single view HD (on extraview) and use an HDMI splitter, but then someone got me thinking about using the PACE HD PVR for 2 environments and a single HD decoder for a third. Does this make sense ? I would prefer at least the main one to be HD and the 2 bedrooms can be SD. Not 100% sure if I will do the 3rd bedroom as well but would like to keep it an option if possible.

I have searched a bit, but most of the info I can find is old. Not sure who things have changed with the new models.

Oh and of course I only want to pay for 1 subscription with extraview :)

Thanks in advance !

Dual view and a single view in extra view, or 2x dual view in extra view.

Yes, with one dual view PVR, but then you can link another to is supposedly as well to make 3.

The old PVR is being phased out and hasn't been sold for a long time.
Your only option now is xtraview which is two.

If you own a sd pvr you can get 3 viewing platforms but they are EOL and I dont think you can even do a change of ownership on them anymore.

So for now only 2 viewing platforms are possible...

I know they are EOL, but I did not know you could no longer do change of ownership.... Damm that changes things then..

Iv'e got an SD PVR and HD PVR 2P linked in extraview and have the said 3 viewing environments, problem is even if you buy a SD PVR second hand now DSTV will refuse to do the change of ownership, this happened to a family friend whose husband passed away, they refused to put the decoder into her name, even though she furnished the death certificate. I eventually just told her to not bother with the fight and put it away in the cupboard, they wanted her to take out another subscription to get the 3 viewing environments back, but considering they won't be used its not worth it.

AFAIK the explora is capable of numerous viewing environments, as they can be linked up pretty easily, but monochoice would rather have people taking out more subscriptions, rather than actually just charging a "screen fee". Same thing for the PVR2P, apparently some European operators have linked more than 4 up at a time. I know Comcast can do up to 4 of their cable boxes in the states

Source? My SD PVR / HD PVR 4P used to work perfectly, but yesterday the SD PVR finally died. Need to figure out how to preserve my 3-viewing environment... Suggestions?

Buy the Explora tomorrow or wait for this "year-end" solution?

I work in the industry... It's coming.

So do I wait a month or two (very inconvenient as we rely on at least 2 viewing environments daily) or do I buy the Explora tomorrow on the basis that the 3-view extra view solution will be compatible with my Explora/HD PVR 4P setup?

I guess what I'm asking is, will this be based on a new soon to be released decoder, or is it purely a config change based on existing equipment?

Thanks.
