DStv owner is all-in on Showmax

I must admit that I have never bothered to check showmax out.. I just called it up now.. Seems to be old movies and outdated sports events. The user interface is quite outdated with 12 tiny posters per page.. Not nice and big like Netflix. I'm not sure if I would ever bother with it to be honest.. They'll have to up their game quite a bit to compete.
I have just chosen the 2 June (latest) motorgp in standard definition and it takes 30 seconds to buffer even though I have 200mb/s fibre internet connected by cable. It's just bombed out now and says I don't have permission even though I pay nearly R1000 per month for Dstv Premium. Using their latest decoder.. Sad hey!!

CAN'T say I'm not smiling at the low figures posted by MultiChoice.
The dictatorial model is finally biting the owner. They have refused to offer subscribers the choice to pick what they prefer. For example, I never watch the Chinese News Channel (CCTV), Africa Magic, KykNet and a truckload of others.
So, why can't I choose what I want and pay for that?
It's like sweet revenge hearing this news. If Canal+ retains this model, it's bye bye DSTV for good.
There are other options, fortunately.

Thank you Multichoice for ignoring your customers needs. You overpaid for a sportsbetting company in Nigeria. Who in their right mind invests in Nigeria. You cannot get money out of that country. You could have bought every single betting licence in SA and still had change

Most streaming services are crap or at least the localized feed for Netflix and Disney+ as limited content is seen from the United States.

When Canal+ CEO said that formula failed it did I doubt anyone would want to to pay R300 for only 8 channels especially knowing some can get more channels for even less. The thing is each channel comes with a price tag and some MultiChoice aren't paying for.

Showmax, much like DStv Stream is bad, they have serious bandwidth issues! Other services fly along with no problems at the same times! The cheeky buggers dare to blame the fibre operators!!

At best, the service has always looked and felt beta!
 
I am subscribed to showmax. Well I pay for showmax but can't actually access it.

I would suggest to Dstv that they actually make their account management work... Otherwise they can try until they are blue in the face. Sometimes it is the little things that makes or breaks an initiative....

I've got no issues, yes with the initial relaunch, but nothing since then.

The content is more localised than Netflix and no, South African content doesn't automatically mean bad.

Can only support what you are saying. Somehow they expect customers to pay for a service that they dont want. They lost the plot long ago.
