hey guys i need help , i want to change my dstv package from premium to compact.what will i need to do ? ill keep the subsrciption but want a compact package.the dstv is under my dads name but he doesnt pay any premiums.i pay the installments.thanks

Nope but I think your dad will have to give them a call since it is in his name

As long as you can quote your Dad's ID # to the consultant, they shouldn't need to speak to him personally. They may ask you to also confirm the address on the account to ensure you know enough of the a/c details.

When you phone the DStv call centre (011) 289-2222 use the automated service as if a new customer as you'll just waste your time putting in the Smart Card # for existing customer options - the agents don't even pick it up, so you have to start from scratch with them anyway with the account info.

or register on their website with the smartcard number and his ID number and do it there yourself :)

You can't do it online anymore.

Agreed.

At the end of the Connect or Disconnect Services on the care.dstv.com website it states:

Disclaimer

To manage services on an XtraView account, send an e-mail to [email protected] or contact the DStv call centre.
To disconnect an account that only has one smart card, send an e-mail to [email protected] or contact the DStv call centre.

I am considering getting DSTV (Select or Compact).
What I want to know is this:
Is it possible to change my subscription on an ad hoc basis?
For example, I'm not the biggest sports fan, but I really like watching big events like the Olympics, Rugby World Cups, Football World cups etc. Can I upgrade to premium for one or two months and then drop my subscription back to Compact thereafter?

Yes, with limitations. The limitation being that you are allowed one downgrade per month.

And the best part is they've fixed their website so you can do it all online again.

Lol I seem to have found it but keep getting an error when clicking "Manage My Services".

How does payment work? ie if I subscribe to premium today, do I pay pro-rata for the month or do I pay the full subscription for August?

You pay pro-rata for the number of days you are on each package. IIRC it works out to about R21 per day for premium.

I stand to be corrected, but the daily rate is:

Compact: R260/30 = R8.67/day
Premium: R590/30 = R19.67/day [IIRC this excludes the R60 for HD channels. So incl HD channels it'll be R650/30 = R21,67.day]

Tried to login now but seems their site is down.....
