On the odd occasion I've switched to Channel 110 (Action) recently, the swearing dialogue is blocked-out & so are religious references to God (as in ''Oh my ....").

I thought parental control might've been default-set to a lower age-group by DStv on my standard decoder, and when I checked found the status to be :

PG Status = No Block
You have selected NO BLOCK.
All programmes are clear for viewing.

So, my question is, why they apparently give full access to movies via parental control settings, then take steps to 'protect us' from ourselves & the rest of the world ?

I'm not in favour of swearing in movies, but if it's part of a movie & is blocked, it's incredibly frustrating to sometimes have regular breaks in the dialogue. I stop watching, immediately - like reading a book with missing pages in every chapter.

By the way, to check these settings on a standard decoder if you don't know, select :
Menu - Parental Control - code 1234 -
PG Status = ....

.. not that it seems to make any difference !

Firstly make sure you are on the Original Language track and not the Family option, secondly DSTV often have issues where the wrong tracks are played

I found that the surround sound tracks are censored. See if you have automatic surround sound enabled.

Ficking annoying.

@Smurfatefrog - thanks ; that option I did find via the 'Language' button & made the change.
Now to test it out by watching something.

@Sinbad - please advise what button/s (and the order) I press to see if auto. surround sound is enabled or not ?

Er. Can't remember, sorry. It's in your preference/personal settings on the decoder somewhere.
