Ladies\Gents please help me out I have DSTV premium but some of the channels have not been working for 4 months now, when I contact Multichoice they tell me that I must get an installer to check it out. I am staying in a complex and we are sharing single dish.

Please advice:confused:

Are you using a pvr on a single view old decoder?

This can happen if your dish is out of alignment, some channels work but others will not.

Have an installer check it out or do the dish alignment your self.

This is exactly what I have been told, so since we are sharing single dish does this mean that we should all be experiencing this problem in the complex.

If your neighbor does not have the issue take your decoder to his wall plug and see if it works and then his to yours then you will know if it is your decoder or the cable. If it is the decoder take it in to a Multichoice office and they will be able to test it there and if it has insurance or warranty they will swap it out for you otherwise buy a new one.

I had this problem with HD 2 PVR and single lnb to splitter - swopped the two cables coming from splitter around and it worked again.

If your neighbours dont have the same problems then chances are they have entered in network settings to access the other channels
Ask the Body Corp for the settings, or check the settings on neighbours decoders

Network setting? I will speak to Body Corp tonight hopefully they will re-align the dish and give me the damn codes! I think I deserve dem codes, since I have paid R565 for dem!

The codes have nothing to do with the dish, I'm sure if the dish or LNB were out then they would be getting plenty complaints
They should give you settings to add 5 or 6 extra networks on the decoder

I wasn't aware of any extra codes. Good to know.

I do not think it has to do with the vertical and horizontal cables, though.

Only in certain installations, where IF converters are being used, you have to enter the network settings. This is because the horizontal frequencies are shifted from their normal positions and combined with the vertical frequencies. It makes it possible to run everything on a single backbone, with a single cable to the unit, giving full HD + XtraView capabilities.

I knew you would be able to clarify this.
These settings mentioned, are inserted in the network options? Eg. The place where you would enter the normal frequencies?

Yes, inserted into additional network positions. Normally, the home network is left on it's default settings.
