Hi all,query for a friend

He lives in Western Cape and they P.E,his parents have premium package.

We're trying to find or figure out if he can just get their card number details and stream on his pc/tv ,as he just wants to stream sport mainly.

Is this possible?

Premium, do they have a pvr? (Access fee)
If so he can use their account details and watch stuff on web site/tablet or join a drifta device to their account for free

Do you need the access fee as well???

As far as i know yes, with other words, if the parents only have a prem package, with stand alone decoder, its of no use, if they have the prem package and a pvr (thus paying the access fee), then it opens the multi enviroments for viewing (like web, tablet etc.)

The thing he should get is the Connect ID and password

We got everything but it says "smartcard alreadt linked to another profile"

Do you try to create new connect id when getting this message? Then I assume his perants allready have an account, they can log in with email address to manage their account.

Then he need to ask them for that email address and password and sign in with that to make use of the streaming on other devices

If they don't know of anything like that, phone dstv on 021 508 2222 and have the id or smartcard number ready, then you can hear who has been linked to the smartcard. And if it is someone you don't know you can change details to you.

Oky so solved that problem and now he is able to watch sport channels, mnet, kyknet and few movie channels which is a score in my opinion as most people pay premium just for those few channels.

Question now is,will a chromecast work to stream it to the tv,it's a normal fhd 1080p samsung ..or what are cheaper options to get it working for the tv.

Is there like a drifta you plug into your tv to view these channels maybe

HDMI cable between the tv and your pc/laptop. That's what I do...

I use an Amazon Fire TV (R1800 at Takealot) and the SuperSport app sideloaded off the Play Store. Works awesome.

Was going to get one of those non-branded Android media players, but they have issues with the DSTV apps.

You could also get a ChromeCast then use the tab cast feature in Chrome to cast your open tab to the ChromeCast.

trying not to go cable :/

Ah, I know there's a wireless dongle you can buy that transmits the signal between the pc/laptop and tv. Will try find a bit more about it and revert with feedback.

The device I was thinking of is the Chromecast device. Available on Takealot apparently.
