Yeah it's getting ridiculous. Prices go up but the quality goes down.
We had Premium since it's been called that, and now for the first time we're slowly leaving.
Got Netflix and Prime, lowered the DSTV to Compact Plus.
 
So why blame anyone else but yourselves for your subscriber losses
In our case your incessant hounding of us by your sales people ( up to 4 calls a day ) for "upselling" caused my wife to cancel. Good riddance
 
Aside from the lack of quality content and over abundance of ads (relative to the premium you pay), their technology is so out of date and lacking in every way.

For around R1k the best they can give you is 1080i (with several channels still broadcast in SD), a slow buggy decoder, no subtitles except for a few movie channels (and then only if you watch live) and apps which are buggy and often unusable (especially on smart TVs).

To be fair, there is no current Satellite broadcast standard for 4K video content, so in that case it is not their fault.

They have also mentioned before that 4K will take up too much bandwidth on the transponders which means that they will have to cut down on the amount of channels that can be broadcasted.

On Sky
To watch live sport such as Football, F1 Cricket & some others then no it does not use your broadband - it comes via the Satellite just like the other live channels so you will be OK.



Other UHD content such as SKY Cinema and some entertainment shows available in UHD are downloaded & use your broadband but SKY content is not streamed - they are downloads - so it doesn't matter if your broadband isn't fast enough to stream for these - as you download to watch later
 
Nit even sure why we still see articles about DSTV, they will become as insignificant as the post office over the next few years, their model worked when there was no option, today it is a free market with choice so they can't force the rubbish line ups down our throat.

Paying R1000.00 plus to be able to watch Rugby has eventually priced itself out of the market.
I have been Streaming for years, So I do not really need a DSTV account.
They have been charging me for for Disney crap which I have cancelled ages ago but they just keep billing me.
I have missing channels whether its on the dish or streaming.
DSTV is responsible for all their own crap, Remember I have been a member since Mnet days ,no dish but a Line of site antenna. and now streaming, which DSTV simply cant get to work.
The only part of DSTV that works is their Stop Orders to my Bank.

Apologies, but I don't understand what you are trying to say here.

The bandwidth available on the satellite transponders is the limiting factor, which is why you have to stream 4K content via broadband Internet.

It is not received in 4K by the decoder from the satellite.
 
That's actually not too bad considering inflation is 60% over 10 years. The issue is it does not carry over to Compact and Compact+ so they've slowly been eroding the value of the lower packages.
 
Power of the Rand has eroded? They pay for a lot of stuff in Dollars don't they?

A desperate company sucking at straws. Have no idea what their key challenges are. Now they blame loadshedding and are looking for power solutions? Crazy. Get your customer value proposition right. Other platforms are gaining subscribers whilst you are loosing them. Stop making excuses and start facing your customers, stop facing them with your backsides.
 
So how did their campaign go in stopping people from streaming the WC? Just asking.
