DSTV Remote

Have an PVR decoder. But all of a sudden the remote on TV1 doesn't work.
Also the remote control on TV2 works but not on TV1.


Did change the batteries!

I wasn't aware of TV2's remote not working on TV1. Or can it be.

Just trying to figure out if it could be the remote or the decoder give problems.
 
The dials all in the right position?
 
Okay, my mistake. Not a PVR, but a Dual View. Thought they are the same.:o :o
 
Open the battrery compartments. there is a switch to change the remote between TV1 and TV2 ... switch them over and around, to see if it is the remote or the decoder
 
Thanks guys, it's kind of difficult, because I'm not even at home and I need to explain this to my wife.

She has changed TV1 remote to tv2, but nothing is going on.
Asked her now to change TV2 remote to tv1, just to double check.

Come on guys :p You don't know what happens when I ask Q like that... :(
I would rather phone DSTV to check if the decoder is on.

Back on Topic - Everything is on, she did change the TV2 remote to tv1 and it works, so it must be the TV1 remote. :mad:

It's only 4 months old.

Does multichoice offer a warranty on remotes. (it looks new :p )

Funny thing though is that my wife was also having problems with the DStv remotes tonight, and I am still at the office :D

I know the smartcard is guaranteed, so I guess the remote is too.
Just to warn you these remotes (for DSTV) cannot be bought at all. They usually only stock the 'universal' types.

I have to say you’re wrong, I have bought many original dstv remotes
 
The universal ones works like a dream. In the tv room I use one remote for the PVR, TV and DVD recorder(basic functions though)

Does all universal one's work with DSTV, heard some don't.

Any brand you would recommend?
