Hi all
Have a SD PVR decoder one of the first dual view ones. It has 4 cables coming from the dish which pluggs in to the decoder. This afternoon my father wanted to take the decoder to multichoice because somethings wrong, but he just unplugged all the cables without marking them or remembering where they were plugged. Turns out multichoice said nothing wrong with decoder, we think it's the dish, but now I can't seem to find the write place for each cable. All 4 are identical white cables with exactly the same connectors, please note I'm not refering to the cullor coded RCA cables, they're peenuts compared to the problem I'm having now. I've been trying for about a hour trying all combonations but with no luck.
Any help appriciated don't want to call installer to come out if I can fix it my self. If all else fails, I'll probably anyway call a installer because as I said, I think the original problem I had since last night is with the dish.

Call me a Grammar Nazi, but here goes:
Sallalight - satellite
pluggs - plugs
write - right
cullor - colour
peenuts - peanuts
combonations - combinations

With all the hail and lightning strikes around Pretoria the last couple of weeks it could possibly be the LNB that has taken a bit of a beating.
Best bet would be to get an installer out to check the LNB.

Seems it could be the lnb plug the cables in and check the signal strength of each tuner.

Not sure how many inputs the decoder has for satellite reception?

Normally if you plug in 1 cable you will receive some channels I have the 1st hd pvr was using 4 cables but now I have a satcr lnb 1 cable no hassle no fuss.

Could be the dish has moved but unlikely.

Good luck with the fix....

4 lnb ins... easy, should not matter which order you plug them in... You probably have an issue with the LNB on the dish....

Thanks, also initially thought it might be the lnb last night when it started giving problems but first had to try the decoder for faults as it's a free swop out vs calling out someone which would be call out fee plus a new lnb, little job will probably be over R1000.

Oh and as for grammer, typing with speed on mobile using sucky screen reader doesn't help much if you're afrikaans plus pissed off, haha.

Are you sure all 4 cables come from the dish?
The SDPVR only needs 2. My guess is one is an aerial and the other goes to a bedroom?

It's Grammar... and the SD PVR only had 2 LNB inputs. The others come from the antenna and the network.

Checked again, 3 cables coming from dish and the third one goes to the second tv, problem is, all in a bundle comes down from the roof entering the house to enter the decoder. Ah well will just call the guy tomorrow, sounds more and more like a lnb replacement.

This damn Smurf always steals my thunder
:D That's what you get for wasting time and posting a grammar comment

hmmm ok, you have any hard icy things falling from the sky lately?

So the DSTV guy came to fix. Turns out the lnb was bust and somehow one of the cables connected to the dish was almost completely warn through.
Everything's back working now and I labled all the damm cables.
