I am upgrading my SD PVR to the Explora 2. Installing it linked with an HD PVR

Is there anything I can do with the old SD PVR? I was told that it can not be used in another installation as it is now obsolete. Can I salvage the HDD and use it in a PC?

I traded mine in for the exact same setup about 3 weeks ago, there are some trade in specials.
