Hi All

I'm new on this forum and hope someone will be able to answer the following question:-
I have a DSTV Explora which i have connected to my AVR via RCA cables, the question is...can i remove the RCA cables and use an optical cable from the explora to my AVR ?
thanks

many thanks for the quick reply
disconnected the RCAs and connected the optical cable from the explora to the AVR - no sound
I have a an HDMI cable running from the Explora to my Samsung TV
must tell you that I'm a complete novice with electronics

I am sure you need to make some input selection on the AVR, mine has options for Coaxial, Analog, Optical and Auto, you'll need to play around and find the setting, better to put it on auto.

Should just work.
Check the volume control settings.
change variable to fixed, see what happens.
Set volume to max on the decoder aslo.

will check the settings on the AVR
many thanks for your kind assistance - appreciate
