Ive got a pretty old smartcard in my decoder. When you hit the "i" button or switch channels it shows you the time, channel number etc...Then I noticed a PVR decoder that shows you the next 2 programs to follow, while mine only shows the next program after the current time slot. Is this because of my smartcard/decoder or is this fuction only available on PVR decoders?
I hate accessing the electronic TV Guide to view only 1 hour in advance. I cant even remember when last I opened my Dish Magazine.

Try updating the firmware on it

If you mean the upgrade process in the menu(the one that updates automatically in the early morning), that firmware is the most current firmware. If there is another way of updating firmware I'll try that.

That decoder is not so old. We have one and it displays the current and next thing on tv. maybe called multichoice and ask them

Mine also shows the next but I want to see 3 timeslots like on the PVR.
For example
10:00 - 12:30 Braveheart
12:30 - 14:30 Spiderman
14:30 - 16:30 Egoli Omnibus:rolleyes:

Only the PVR show the current program and two more. Your decoder can only show the current and next program.

And this means I need to get a PVR?
I was really hoping that a upgrade of smartcard could fix this. Because it really is a nice feature.

Do you see this for every channel. As far as I know, they can show 3 but choose not to for all DSTV decoders and all channels. It's all to do with memory size.

On the PVR it shows 3 time slots for each channel which is really nice but mine only shows 2. Like you said it might be a memory problem and that is the reason why only the PVR has this feature.

The PVR shows 3 programmes for all channels...

The HDPVR will show 3 on screen for all channels but you can scroll through it to see whats coming up in the next 24 hours.

All normal decoders only show 2 programmes on each channel.

Thats great. Just what I need but getting a HDPVR just for that purpose would be really stupid.

I also have the blank information bar and it only shows after flicking back and forth. Really really annoying, almost like the louder adverts.
