Oi! Leave me out of this...
While I have to give credit for MC actually releasing a manual fix process, its more than slightly worrying that they KNEW that a fair chunk of the decoders would get busted with the update but they released it anyway.
For anyone who has an HDPVR (4tuner only apparently) and gets the following error on their decoder in the next few days : BE 1
The following is the manual process to try and fix it, failing this you will need to take it into your nearest MC office.

The following is the manual process to try and fix it, failing this you will need to take it into your nearest MC office.
NB: This procedure is performed on the decoder’s front panel AND NOT ON THE REMOTE CONTROL UNIT.
1.The decoder must be switched on
2.Press the RESET button on the Front Panel
3.Wait for the “dl” to appear on the Front Panel
4.In very very very quick succession press the STANDBY, then P-, then GUIDE, then STANDBY on the Front Panel
5.The Blue Loader Screen will launch and the download will be triggered which will take approximately 25 minutes.
Do not interrupt the download process and wait for normal video and audio to resume
