Hi, I've used DSTV streaming on my PC many times before... just haven't used it for a while.
I login all ok etc, but on the main screen there are only like 4 channels or something ridiculous, so I can't watch anything..

Do you know what I've done wrong, or how to fix it etc?

I haven't tried it on my phone, can't even fathom trying to watch TV on my phone lol.

@Wrath of Khan

I mainly watch on TV via satellite, so haven't used it on a PC / laptop ; decided to test DStv Now, and can confirm all my channels seem to show up, as per the package I'm subscribed to.

However, none of them play ; the next page opens when I click on the play button, but the space for the screen remains blank !

This is in the Brave browser on a laptop. I'm currently not bothered enough to investigate further, because I watch on TV, and only occasionally download a "catch up" episode to my phone to view it there.

You should try it, as the DStv app works well enough for my requirements, and all channels show up there as well.

Hope you come right.

Thought I'd try Firefox, as Brave has built-in blocking features.

Firefox came up with a message stating it would need to download certain DRM components in order for the player to work, and to try again "later".

I gave it a while, and still, the player doesn't open - if happening on 2 browsers with 2 different "engines", then must be DStv's setup gone wrong.

Seriously, try your phone ; it should work, and unless you're trying to follow a ball (in sport) on a small screen, the picture's clear enough for everything else, even at 360p (for me), and you can go up to 1080p.

Call DSTV they did the same with me when they cocked up my payment. Also only the free channels showed up. Told me I didn’t pay, was a week long saga of having to prove to them I was debited.

I cancelled that month and never returned.

Just tried Firefox here, but note I'm on Ubuntu - no problem, maybe try again now.

We also had these issues before.
There were major access problems a couple of months ago affecting many, could just be a short related hiccup...
Please give further feedback

Only for the sake of testing / feedback, tried again a short while ago.

Still had the same results as before, with both browsers, but this time in Firefox, I disabled UBlock Origin ; no sign of their player popping up.

Btw, I was testing it using Mint as the OS, both occasions, so closely allied to Ubuntu which you were successful with - very strange ; might be some other browser setting/s blocking it.

I could try on Windows 10, sometime.

What I think worked for me before, but can't swear it, was to remove the related "Service Workers" entry from my Firefox setup after some research on the subject. Maybe worth investigating, if removed the system does put it back.
(Could be called something else in Mint etc. / Windows / Apple and other browsers.)

On my setup: Tools \ Browser Tools \ Remote Debugging. Then select "This Firefox" (top left).

Stopped working on a 4 month old Samsung TV. DSTV said the TV was incompatible. Tafelberg Furnishers said it wasn't. The screen appears but is stationary

Tafelberg said they would send someone around. This was in Feb. Cancelled the D/O in March but I see they are still debiting my account. R909,00 was charged yesterday

Its an hour on the phone to DSTV. They insist on these verification questions that I don't know the answer to

Thanks, will bear it in mind if I ever want to watch by streaming, apart from on a phone.

It would also take a revamp to uncapped either through LTE / 5G (which I definitely can't get reasonably priced) or fibre.

Many (but far from all) peeps previously affected also had smart Samsung TVs, not resolved for them last I heard.

I don't have a debit order setup for DStv, and never intend to. It's not much hassle for me to use their WhatsApp menu to check what is owing, each month, then elect to pay via that interface.

A few minutes, and peace-of-mind they won't abuse the DO system.

EDIT - when you call them, is it their automated system asking the questions, or a person?

Reason I ask is that I'm quite sure you can bypass the automated part by simply choosing that you have no account with them, then electing to speak to an agent.

It varies per agent, I've found, how much they ask, and if you launch hurriedly into your issue without giving them a chance to say anything they sometimes get sidetracked and don't ask for any confirmation details as to who you are.

Yes, you are right, its difficult to get a word in. And they speak at high speed in a strange accent. I have given up trying

Netflix and Britbox is fine for me. Britbox will even broadcast King Charles coronation next Saturday
