DSTV Supersport Streaming

Well it cost me a beer but I have now got my neighbour's dstv-premium-plus-pvr-access-fee account set up for streaming.

He was more than happy to let me use it as he has no use for it whatsoever. I just want to watch the 20 F1 races this year.

Happiness.
All this talk of using neighbours subscriptions is probably what had lead to this change of rules. I expect possible harsher rules in future to try and restrict this. Not sure how but I'm sure they'll be keen to.

Locking per single IP perhaps? I can see them pulling this one...

From what I can tell, the feed scales up to 480p on my 4-meg line and averages around 240KB/s. Not HD though.

If available, I watch a pirated Sky Sports F1 feed. Much, MUCH better and way more coverage pre and post race, as already mentioned.

Very true.

Any else having issues streaming soccer? Having the issue below..

When watching soccer, lets say at 55m:00s it will replay somehow jump back to 54m:30s.....so it will play the same thing twice. Then after a few seconds, it will update and will now be at 55m:30s

Are you using Afrihost or Axxess by any chance?

Vox...

Could it really be my connection?

That used to happen to me when using Afrihost.... switched over to Vox and quality is better (because of more available bandwidth) and no buffering or skipping ever

It's possible. The SS streaming has an algorithm that works with the stability/speed of the line. It's how it determines which quality to show you.

But what is strange is that it skips back, which basically replays and then skips to current. That's different to buffering and then skipping.

It caches content and the player has an issue when it buffers or gets close to the buffer endpoint at least. Handles it better these days, but still requires a really solid connection at all times or it will cause this problem on occasion...

For quite some time I'm getting the following messages on my Android devices when I try to stream live sport in the Supersport app.

"Due to scheduled maintenance, live streams are currently unavailable - However the streams are available in the DSTV Now application" and
"An unexpected error occurred, please try again later"

Streaming work fine in the DSTV Now app.

Does anybody else experience the same issues or perhaps know what the problem is?

Same problem on my side.

Hi, with the rugby coming up soon, a friend lent me his DSTV details as he is not using the online streaming. What's the best way to get the channels onto my tv connected to a HP microserver (2mb adsl). Would a Chrome cast from my ipad work?

Share the login details over here. We'll test it and advise of the best possible setup.
