No.Dstv on demand is (push) VOD.You watch it when it suits you.

PPV in a nutshell ,is any event that plays on a scheduled time.It is mostly sport but can be something like movie premiers on a Sundaynight at 8.

Yup i would settle for channels 200-208, channels 250 256/8. O wait no my news channels :(. I want those as well. While i am at it i do like sony as well. Also the movie channels are decent if you have not seen every single movie ever released. Hmmm the more i think about it the more i would like to just keep it the way it is. Perhaps they could show some good faith and drop hd down to my current rate of 550 and throw in a hd decoder plus install just to show much they love me :p

Besides i drink out a months dstv in one night. I can snort a months dstv in 5 hours haha. F i smoke a months dstv in two weeks. I spend more on coffee in a month. I spend more on pc's in 6 months than i do on dstv in a year. Heck my adsl costs me nearly double my dstv cost. If i think about it dstv offers me the most entertainment for the least price.

Wow, government must know an awful lot about how the pay TV industry works. Weird because they know nothing about education, housing, safety, public TV, health, accountability, and so on.

Yes, you are right, but it's a minor difference, they are both still for premium content.
 
I've been reading forums where it it is suggested that the technology is not available for choose-your-own-bundle.

I agree. I don't see any legal recourse for a move like this. Its a luxury product not an essential service.

Unfortunately, you are right. There are no free lunches. It’s like banking errors are never in your favour. They never accidently credit your account with R100 000. You always lose a R100 000 through a ‘banking error’.

You may purchase any channel you want for R700 per channel, or you can have these existing bouquets at the current bundle prices.

Someone is overstepping their authority if they believe that they can dictate how businesses are to operate. Clearly some muggins has got their panties in a twist and believes that they'll get a better price if they only have to pay for a single channel.

Well doesn't the CPA do just that ?

Not tell businesses how they can operate but particularly how they cannot act.

And if forcing clients to accept bundled products is contrary to the act ....

How is it contrary to the act? Nobody is ever forced into buying something and you can't force someone to sell you something either.

The point of the CPA arises when you have been bulldusted about the good or service you bought. Then you can claim back.

Well they're in a position of market dominance, so it can be seen as abuse. Competition authorities around the world take action against Microsoft for the same reason. Your point would be valid if there was sufficient competition, which there is not. That's obviously not Multichoices fault though, but until there is sufficient competition, they need to be kept in check.

I selected about a dozen channels from that list I'd be interested in, excluding sport, for just R18.
