Dstv upgrade/downgrade periods

So I called dstv wanting to upgrade for this weekend so that I can watch the F1 finale live, and was gonna downgrade after the weekend. I was told that they have changed it and that I can only downgrade on the 14th December.

I told the guy I rather won't upgrade cos it's too expensive and that F1 is only available on Premium and not also on the Walka.

He didn't know how to respond.

Not a good customer experience...

Is it the 14th of December for everyone or is that just OP's subscription due date?

I just had a dish and decoder installed. Calling them tomorrow to activate. Will they charge me a prorata amount for whatever subscription I take?

Edit: ok, so they said I choose my subscription payment date, so that determines my billing cycle. And if upgrading the guy was saying a pro rata amount is charged for the remainder of the billing cycle and they refund the unused subscription already paid.

I didn't activate yet. Will watch the free 100 Dish on TV channel for a while till I get bored, lol.
