I have a few questions wrt DSTV Xtraview & the HB connection, hope you can help:

1.) Can the xtraview be set up with two SAT dishes instead of a single dish with a splitter. In other words, each HD-PVR2 has its own dish and they are linked with a HB cable.
2.) Is it at all possible to send the HB signal wirelessly?
3.) Is it illegal to share your DSTV connection with a neighbour if no money is exchanged?
4.) Can MC detect that a connection is shared?
5.) If xtraview is used for 2 HD-PVR2’s, will both the primary and secondary decoder be able to view the HD channels, interactive channels and have full PVR functionality?

Thanks.

1) Yes, no problem with that
2) I don't think so unless you find a wireless transmitter using RF but it's not worth it
3) Are favours exchanged?
4) No
5) Yes, they will both have full functions

Thanks for the reply.

2) why would it not be worth it? Cost? Reliability?
3) lol

I don't think you're the first person to think of this but unfortunately you need to use coax for the heartbeat.

If your mate is fairly close by you could just use a remote blaster perhaps?

do we know what the ethernet port will be used for in the future?

They come as a standard connection on the base version of the decoder so they are not there cos MC asked for it, so its highly unlikely this generation of decoders will ever use it.
If anything maybe the 2P

Has any tried using an ethernet video balum to transmit heartbeat connection? would this work?

We use them at our botswana offices to transmit composite/coaxial cctv footage over Ethernet cable. 1 cat5 cable can transmit 4 channels. They come from mustek if I am not mistaking. Was wondering if anyone has tried this. The video balun can transmit a signal almost 600m. I was thinking about transmitting the lnb feed and heartbeat via this at my place, but wanted to know if anyone had tried this before I went out and bought them.

The IF frequency feed from the LNB and the low frequency heartbeat, are totally different to a composite video signal. What makes you think this is possible? I can assure you that it is not...
