Plug it out. That should get rid of the red light.

Cancel the service and then there will be nothing to worry about.
DSTV is an expensive waste of time.

Is your TV License up to date?

Take it in to your nearest Multichoice service centre. They are very efficient.
If you are a DSTV subscriber, the decoder may even be covered by insurance.

Is it an Explora?

Explora decoders have a hard drive, the first step on a restart is to boot from disc, like a PC. You can hear the drive starting up, and normally the display shows a download message.
