DStv's lower-than-inflation increases

My only gripe is they could be 1080p for streaming :-( but otherwise there is still quite a lot of international content.
It's not the resolution as such from my understanding, it's the bitrate, it really is brutal. There's stuff on Showmax I'd like to watch but I end up sailing the high seas.

For an example. This show should be showcased in 12 Mb/s 4K on there, but alas.

Yeah Showmax also doesn't have the greatest sound :-(

I'm with @BBSA 's concept in this matter - Multichoice have clearly driven prices up in the past to eliminate competition, so no excuse in this modern recession. Except maybe that they've backed themselves into a corner 'cos the studios / sports groups won't play ball with the new realities now. Then tough luck.

My IPTV service provides all the DSTV channels, but honestly, I'm not interested in most of them. Not even Super Rugby, the constant advertisements is quite annoying. Personally, I prefer SkySport.

Yeah, their advertising attitude is so not realistic in today's market. And getting worse, as per yesterday's discovery by @RedViking that mobile / Smart TV streaming now has forced ads at the start of Catch Up content.

Well done MC, way to go

What good channels did they ditch? Also sadly the value proposition is about the same for the thing that costs the most and it's the sport :-( if they had an entertainment only package it might be lower.

I once had a similar exchange with @Brian_G .

It's not so much the channels, although those have gone downhill over the last few years.
Series got bad, just the cheap / woke nasty stuff for a long while, but that's looking up again.

My main beef with them re content is movies - they purposely leave the year-made info off their online guide these days, knowing that the youngsters won't know the difference between old and new movies.
Don't believe it's got that bad? Then explain the R79 pm joke price for adding "Premium Movies" to the lower packages. It's been replaced by local-is-lekker extremes.

The year is there?

The Showmax shows I've come across have 5.1, low bitrate but 5.1 at least.
From which device? Might have to check if it is 5.1 coming through or just so kak the speaker don't recognise :-)

Online guide, not app. They removed it about 2 to 3 years back.

But ja, that part can't be proven and it is strange to see it's still on the app.
