South Africa's biggest pay-TV broadcaster, DStv, is suffering a subscriber exodus due to increased competition from video streaming services.

Parent company MultiChoice reported a record loss of R4.15 billion in its 2023/2024 financial year.

Nowadays I see a lot of DSTV subscribers in the older-age group e.g. older tannie and ooms who must have Sport and and Afrikaans channel.

Still no sport streaming alternatives. Only alternatives for series and movies.

SABC and ETV can't even agree to broadcast Springbok Rugby games when given the opportunity to SABC by MultiChoice.

I miss the days when they used to have ad in Afrikaans, Couldn't understand a word but South Africa used to be so cultural, and the ads were often funny and catchy.

SA adds are so bland these day, quiet enjoy the UK adds tho
