Hello there,

I recently moved into a complex that uses one communal dish, and has a single cable protruding from the wall. I am not sure if anyone has any idea on what I can do to get a signal. I cannot install my own dish as it is a complex. Has anyone ever encountered such issues? Do I have to downgrade my DSTV now since my explora is not working on this communal dish, as I have no signal strength at all? Cannot use the dstv switch as I do not have twin cables. Help!!!!

You'd need to get the splitter but you'd still need the HL and VL cables coming in, you might have to speak to the installer so they will have to provision it for you.

The body corporate just advised I need to use their installer and for that I need to pay R2000.00 guess I am downgrading to the old silver decoder. No way I am paying R2000.00 just to have access to the dstv explora

Thank you guys.

I stayed in a complex with a communal dish. I had a HD PVR and also required settings to be able to watch dish. Was told the same story as you that you require the Body Corporate installer to come out and "fix" it and all they do is simply insert settings - nothing special. Googled some things and found out the settings is the same for all communal dishes

Try using settings in pdf below for Explora. I used the exact same settings with my hd pvr and it worked 100%

Hey I just tried doing what you suggested and it keeps failing to connect when changing the frequencies

You unfortunately require two cables for the PVR to work, unless it's a unicable they ran to your unit. R2000 is extortion, I'd send that to Multichoice.

Hi

Get this spiltter from space TV:
SATELLITE 2WAY SPLITTER DC ON ALL LEGS

So here is the configuration:

One cable to the communal dish point provided in the house into the splitter then you will get 2 cables going out into the HL and VL on the explora multiswith and 1 cable out from Uni A port into the decorder.

Note only one HL will work so keep on checking the status of the multi switch needs to be blue at all times

I've just applied the settings and now there's an error message SMA binding failed. Could not tune to the bound transponder. What do I do now coz the numbers im inputting are correct

The Explora can only work with a unicable setup .If your communal dish is a modulated dstv communal system on is 20 satellite for dstv go to
For instructions and settings for the Explora

The is no need of downgradeYou must buy a smart switch .after that u call mi I will fix for you my number is 0710022937
It's easy to connect
im experiencing the same where I stay still fighting with the owner regarding this as it’s too way expensive and the said part is that when I move out I will leave it there n that’s my loss.
