Was thinking about this yesterday. When DTT comes out and you have to buy a set top box will the receiver output multiple channels at once so that if you have multiple TVs in the house each one can watch a different channel?

Somehow I suspect the settop box will only output one channel at any one time so you will probably need a receiver for each tv?

Your assumptions are 100% correct. You will need a decoder for every TV, or for every channel... Hopefully they will not encrypt, then you can get TV's with internal DVB-T2 tuners (no STB's).

Well if that is the case, they are not very clever then. With the new TVs, almost all are fitted with DVB-T2 tuners...so I would suspect that you'll need a STB should you have an analogue receiver in your TV...CRT and entry level flats...else, the channels will be picked up by the TV's tuner. If this is not the case, then the tuner is redundant and all TVs in SA can only be considered as 'monitors'...

DVB -T upgrade

I have a Gigabyte usb hybrid tv dongle (analog + Digital) The digital is DVB-T, can this be upgraded for DVB-T2 at a later stage for the launch of DTT ?
