Dual Band Router Help Needed

Hi guys

I'm looking at getting a dual band router but I'm stuck on 2 options (my current Netgear N300 packed up). Firstly the position where I have to place my router means that my wireless signal is very weak. I'm convinced my walls are coated in lead.

Recently I bought the Netgear N6300 and N750. I returned both as their wireless signal could not go as far as the N300. They both have internal aerials whereas the N300 has 2 external aerials so maybe that's the reason.

From what I've read in reviews on the Netgear Nighthawk it should do the job. Ive also read positive reviews on the Asus RT-AC66U. There are consoles and about 6 smart devices that need to connect to the router. The current N300 was taking strain.

Both are in the R3500 odd price range.

Ive looked at www.webantics.co.za and www.titan-ice.co.za . Ive seen a post regarding webantics that was great in 2012 but no so great in 2014...so I'm a bit concerned where to purchase them. Has anyone used Titan Ice?

I would appreciate it if any of you may have any of the above mentioned routers, could give me some suggestions on them and where best to purchase them. I would appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks
Martin

I used to have 4 wireless access points setup around the house to provide coverage everywhere, and while it worked - maintaining the network was a bit painful.
About 1.5 years back I got the Asus N66U and never looked back. Put the router upstairs around the center of the house, bumpes the wireless signal up from its default 80mW to the max of 200mW and disconnected all other access points. I get a solid signal everywhere. At the boundaries of the property the signal jumps between 2 and 3 bars but is still solid - just a bit slower.

I was skeptic at first as it is quite a pricey router, but bit the bullet. Bottom line is it is the best wireless access point I have ever owned. My next one will be the AC66U or whatever the latest big boy Asus is. Don't see the need to upgrade for a while yet though.

I got the Asus N55U a couple of years back and never looked back, so I would recommend the Asus AC66U !!

Never used any of those websites but the titan-ice one looks cool. (In my experience the after service relies more on the manufactures service than the retailer)

R3500? Are you insane.

Buy a Ubiquiti UniFi instead. Buy two even for that kind of money.
