Dual boot and UEFI woes.

I have a machine with Win 10 pre-installed with Secure boot and uefi. I am trying to dual boot with mint (mint presumably is preconfigured to handle secure boot and efi) Anyway, I can install mint, but I cannot get a grub boot screen after. BIOS boot options also only give windows boot manager.

I don't want to run mint only on this box, as it is used for some tools that only have windows apps (and I'm not going a wine/vm route, life's too short for that).
Any ideas?

The other day I tried to install 32 bit Debian on a very old PC. Didn't have any disks and so I found a little tool called Plop Boot Manager that installed a boot loader that saw the old XP and my USB. (This machine is incapable of booting from USB as is) I was able to boot from the USB and installed Debian.

I have to say, I'm not sure if the Plop Boot Loader will run/install from Windows 10 as I used it on the pre-installed XP that was on there.

It may allow you to boot into Mint from where you should be able to fix the Grub issue.

It may also render everything unbootable so proceed with caution if you go down this route.

Years ago you could edit the Windows boot loader to add Linux but I can't remember the procedure and whether that is still possible.

I seem to have a solution with a boot repair live usb. If I don't come right I'll try your methods.

Just a shot in the dark here, but is your disk MBR or GPT?

If MBR use something like AOMEI Partition Assistant and convert it to GPT.

The main difference between MBR and GPT is that MBR has some limitations for modern usage. Namely, MBR can only handle four primary partitions and 2TB of HDD space. GPT has no partition limit, so you can have ten partitions if you want.
