Dual Boot Xp and Windows 7

A question if I may.

I've got one 250GB drive that I want to use for OS.

Is it possible to have the disk partitioned in 3 to have XP, Win7 and Kubuntu running off of it?
If yes, would I also have to toggle the BIOS to choose which OS to boot with?
Or something else?

Dealing with partitions can be troublesome. You need to ensure that you partition your HDD correctly and plan ahead.

I cannot remember all the details, but boot records need to be created in certain partitions and primary can only exists within the first x GB (x = best you look up these figures). Also you can only only create 4 primary partitions and extend these with logical/extended partitions - which I'm not sure if you can use those to boot. Then there were also some partition constraints for Linux.

Like I've said; I did this long ago, so best is to do some research before installing your OS's.

when you boot from your win7 dvd and install the installation will scan and detect your xp installation and it will create a boot menu for you. once the installation is finished and you will get a startup menu with an option to load windows 7 or 'an older version of windows' in other words XP.

Installed ... Worked like a charm .... Thanks a million

I have never had any issues with dual booting my system at home, so long as the OS's are on different hard drives. Simply custom install 7/Vista, and select the other hard drive. Going in via the BIOS is a waste of time and can be confusing if you have identical size and brand hard drive.
