I need to clarify a few things.

I have done some reading and can't make out if you need to install both windows and OSX when running boot camp.

Obviously you need to install windows to the partition you create, but the guide I read has no mention of reinstalling OSX.

So am I correct in assuming that you:

Partition drive using Boot camp in OSX Lion
Run the Windows 7 installation and configuration
Select which OS to boot into?

No reinstalling OSX? Surely by partitioning you would need to reinstall both Windows and OSX?

Thanks :)

No. Why? You are not wiping the OS X install, just shrinking the existing OS X partition to create space for a Win7 partition so why would you need to install OS X again?

Thanks. I was under the assumption that by partitioning it would need to clean the entire disc, re create the partitions and then you install accordingly.

That is pretty neat that you don't need to reinstall OSX.

Shot.

Nope, irrespective of what operating system you use you can shrink, expand etc existing partitions (file system dependant) and create new ones without deleting them or wiping the disk.

I have learnt something new today :)

I think you can only do that with the GUID partition scheme, and then there are still restrictions.
