We are having a pvr installed but the problem is we are in a 4 storey house
and it will be connected to 2 tv's on diffrent floors
we are doing it through Teljoy
do I now have to ask and make sure it has dual LNB
and will the 2 tv's be able to watch diffrent programs?
sorry Im not sure how all these things work ;)
thanks for the help

Hi

Yes, u have to have a dual LNB to receive different satellite signals

N.B. If u are installing the new HD PVR then remember this this decoder is NOT dual view. So if u want to watch different programs in another room, then u will also need another decoder (HD or 1110) IN ADDITION to the dual LNB.

There is a couple of ways to connect a HDPVR, first is with a twin lnb to a multi-switch that turns the 2 cable from the dish into 4 which the pvr need. The other is with a SatCR lnb, it's a single cable system is only connects to the first lnb input of the pvr.

The HDpvr is a single view decoder, so your 2 tv's will have to watch the same channel. Multichoice is still working on software that will allow you to link a 1110 single view decoder to the HDPVR to give you "extra View". Last I heard, the software should be ready mid October, so expect to see it sometime next year.

Hope that answers some of your questions.

Just a word of warning... The HDPVR is not working 100% with SATCR LNBs yet. The DSTV forums have a lot of discussions on this, it seems that the decoder loses settings.
