Hi,

I have a laptop with an extra screen attached. I set the bigger external screen as 2 and the laptop screen as 1. I am using 2 as the main screen. Was working for a bit and then the laptop's screen, 1, went off. I assume its some sort of power saving enabled option?

I tried opening up power settings but cant see any place to "wake"the screen up. I then took my Skype window and dragged it across to screen 1 thinking it would wake it up, no luck.

So besides logging off and on again...how do I wake this frickin screen up. Google hasnt been very helpful :(

I would check display settings - monitors only go to sleep due to inactivity - and thus a solution could be disabling and then re-enabling the laptop monitor.

However, this does not address the cause. You should check the Windows event viewer (based on your issue I'm extrapolating your a Windows user) for any errors that occurred at about the time the screen went off.

I normally try the Fn and I think its the F5 key it juggles through the different configurations..but first step in troubleshooting it to check the hardware connections..

Thanks, yeah recon its due to inactivity...just couldnt get it back on. Had to reboot due to frickin Win updates...so hey, its back up now. Have added a gadget to the desktop so now it doesnt go to sleep...so its sorted...sort of :p

I would change the power settings so when you are connected to power that your screen does not go off.

On Windows 7 right click the power connection or battery and look at the power oiptions
