Good day

We are using Dual Leadtek GT9400 VGA cards in our PCs. It is only used for monitoring and not playing games. The fan is starting to make a noise. I tried to oil it, but it seems that the bearins are worn. Can I disconnect the fan and still use the card?

Regards

It would be better if you could (is it possible?) remove the fan & replace it.

On some GPU's it's possible but not easy.

Remember - the fan is there coz the card needs cooling)

or you need to see if you can add a fan that blows onto the card. (could help)

What are the fan dimension (wxdxh) and the voltage?
Picture would also be nice.

Is the card out of warranty? I had a problem a while back with a card's fan, took it back to the supplier and they swapped out the fan for me.

If you get some bearing grease, you might be able to get another year out of the fan. Don't remove it, you will get problems if you do that.

Does the fan/heatsink look like this:

A few years ago I replaced my old heatsink/fan with a compatible replacement from Zalman - have a look here to see if anything can be used on your card. The Vantec IceBerq range should also fit this card.

9400GT's seem quite scarce these days. Might find them in a retail shop.

Could he run it with another card, like a Geforce 210? I realise SLI isn't being used.
