Hi there guys,

I was wondering if anyone here knows about a dual WAN router or device which can intelligently fail over to another connection if one of your WAN connections' latency gets too high for VoIP?

You could probably roll your own with an RB750 and a bit of scripting.

Yes we use it exactly like that. Another way of doing it is using gwmonitor script on your Centos based PBX. This scripts pings an IP via a gateway. You then set the maximum latency (say 500ms). If then either that IP becomes unreachable or latency exceeds the maximum specified amount the script will change the gateway to the second one in the row and send you an email to inform you of the change.

Or you could run a virtual machine and pfSense - its really an amazing tool, annnd, its FREE! :D

You could also set it up to load balance and fail over to one WAN connection as soon as the other one drops.

Yep, pfSense can do this.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I will look into the things you mentioned. What we're looking for though is something affordable that can be rolled out to clients without too much configuration.

Eish, and I forgot to mention, it needs to be able to support 3G failover. We were looking at using Peplink routers, but I haven't been able to find out for sure if it can be programmed to failover by link latency.
