lol I have two monitors, one is a older 17' Samsung CRT and the other is a 19' LG LCD.
i want to use them alongside each other, but my question is can one monitor be set a smaller resolution and one higher? as the CRT can't support the higher resolution and refresh rate that the LCD can.
Does NVIDIA allow settings for each monitor? I dont want the buy the DVI to VGA adapter if it wont work.

Thanks

1) Plug them both in (you might need DVI to VGA converter plugs if you don't have a DVI cable for the LCD).
2) Go to your windows display settings (desktop / right click/ properties)
3) Click on the Settings TAB
4) You will see both monitors there in the little window
5) select the non-active monitor and check the little box below that says "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor"
6) the monitor will then switch on, and you can individually set the resolution for each monitor.

When your NVidia card notices you have 2 monitors plugged in at the same time it will run (if you have relatively up to date drivers) the multiple monitor wizard.

During the wizard, choose Dual View as your option (vs Clone / Span) and your monitors will be independent from each other (as far as resolution is concerned.

Windows can be dragged to each monitor and closed from there, so that when you open them they will remember which monitor they were last open on.

If you dont get the wizard, you can setup the monitors manually but make sure your multiple monitor selection is setup for Dual View

If you need more help, give me a PM Shout and I can send you details if you wish

Hi there, I am facing a similar conundrum. I am trying to setup dual monitors but my primary card(9600gt ) has a dvi ( which i am using for my 17inch) and an hdmi output. It doesn't have dual dvi's. I plugged in an old ATI pci card ( radeon 7000 ) and hooked up my second analog monitor to it. In the display view it does allow me to choose the 2nd monitor with the radeon but when it comes to setting the resolution everything is greyed out and nothing appears on the second screen. I have installed the latest drivers for both cards

Any idea ?
