So just moved to Centurion Rooihuiskraal, and noticed that my iBurst speeds are not so good, i'm averaging 80KBps at night, during the day would be lucky to even get 20KBps, previous place i use to get full speeds, so now thinking of getting alternative considering that i'm throwing R350p/m to IBurst.

Cybermart have a R199 uncapped package (Data+ADSL Line rental) for a 384KB line, adding the Telkom line +/-R150 can give me a faster uncapped connection than iBurst,

So what do you guys think of this alternative?, should i go for it?

Do you mean kilobits per second (kbps) or kilobytes per second (kBps)?

Well seeing as telkom have killed off their 384kbs lines, he can't mean that could he.
And seeing as line speeds and download speeds are affected by a number of factors no body can guarantee a 384KB line. So clearly
he need to check a more up-to-date website. since 1mbs is the norm I guess he mean 1mbs line.

Go for it mjmapi get a ADSL line, it is going to give you more reliable and consistent speeds.

If I were able to get ADSL in my area I would dump iBurst in seconds!

ADSL is the best broadband service in the country. So yes, if you have coverage get it.

thanks Guys, already called Telkom for the Line install, since dont even have a phone at home +only cells+,

No if i remember iBurst charged be double o my first month, saying the other payment is per-paid for next month, which i would think my service with them is paid for the current and next month *pls correct me if I'm wrong*, does this mean my last month with them can be next month, month end with no further payments on my part?

Remember, a 384Kb line = 48KB/s maximum download speed. You'd be lucky if you get 24KB/s during business hours on that type of account.

dumped iBurst for ADSL last year, haven't looked back since

I have the same problem with IBurst in Witbank. I bought a townhouse and moved in only to find that no provision has been made for any ADSL infrastructure in this complex. the other options are simply not cost effective for higher speed internet access.

The complex management agent and developer says that "no one uses land line anymore" but you need this if you want ADSL access.

Iburst has no planes to upgrade the availability (signal strength) or speeds in our area apparently and the ISP cannot guarantee better reception even if I have a booster antenna installed.

My question is this, what are my options? Can I force the developers/management agent to get ADSL infrastructure in place, without having to carry the cost myself or is there some other option that will cost an arm or a leg?

Hold a meeting and discuss it with the other residents in the area, seen a lot of complexes that have done that for some odd stupid reason. Not sure why they believe people don't use landlines, especially with ADSL needing physical lines.

Usually uninformed people who believe that you are stupid if you want to use a phone line for internet access when you can get a Vodacom 3G stokkie with 1GB of data.
