Quick question. On holiday pin the coast and need to change my tyres. The options at the local dealer are Dunlop or Conti. I've heard mixed reviews about Dunlop.

The OEM tyres were Dunlop. But apparently the imported Dunlops are a different class. I've fitted Michelin since, and got about half the mileage - didn't rotate :(

So Dunlop or Conti. I don't have the model, but the Conti's are about R150 cheaper ea

Conti's would be my choice. Depends on the specific tyre and the obvious price. I prefer the softer compound tyre's for local use!

You'll have the half mileage issue with any brand if you don't rotate.

You can fit tyres anywhere. Don't restrict yourself to something you may not like.

I would rather go for Nankang, Firenza or Pirelli depending on budget and application.

If you're happy with Michelin, take them again. Otherwise I'd go with Continental.

I had endless issues with Dunlops on my Daihatsu Sirion. Fortunately the durban warehouse / factory peeps took a look everytime I had problems, and gave me a new set twice.

So their service is excellent, however their tyres aren't.

Got Conti's with my new car. Plan to go Michelin when I need to change. Only issue with those is the road noise, however I can't totally blame the tyres, I'm not driving something of German quality :P

It's a difficult one IMO. Because of what happened, I'll never go Dunlop again. On the flip side, I see A3's come with Dunlops. Really made me go O_O when I noticed that. But I suppose they are OEM.

ContiPremium Contact2 fitted. Not sure what the Dunlop model offerred was. Went on Seriously's advice. And not the first time I've heard there are issues with the locally made Dunlops.

205/55 R16. Honda Civic Hatch. Which came with OEM Dunlop. But US made, as the car is fully imported. Those were good. First change were Michelin. But I see there's a problem with my rack? That led to excessive wear. So I can't fault them
