Would any kind soul help a lady out here please. I would dearly love to have my computer NOT auto-connect to the internet at startup. I want to do this manually every time. I can get into the router setup but knoe not how to make this happen.
Please help?

Remove the ISP details from the router so it can't dial up and then set up a PPPoE dial up in Windows. You'll then use it like a modem and connect when you want to.

If you are using windows 7, go to your taskbar, where the network symbol is located, find the connection and right click on it.

Then go to the connection settings and make sure that "connect automatically when network is in range" is NOT ticked.

This should stop the auto-connecting to the network (For wireless at least)

Most easy solution would be to just switch that POS router OFF anytime you leave the interwebz. :D On the other hand why would you not have internet on all the time? I often get upgrades to my antivirus thing at night, or other stuff.
