Hi all
Hoping for any advice or ideas here please?
We upgraded from the old Marconi router to the new Telkom DuoPlus 300 router.
I notice that the DNS servers auto-assigned to the router by Telkom are 196.43.50.190 and 196.43.53.190 which are Recursive DNS servers in Pretoria and Durban. I reside in Johannesburg.
Should these not be set to the Johannesburg / Rosebank DNS servers 196.43.38.190 and 196.43.42.190 (Recursive) OR should they be 196.43.1.9 (Rosebank Primary DNS), OR 196.43.1.14 and 196.43.1.11?
My problem (DNS related?):
Google takes ages to open, and even longer to display search results. Also, all websites running Google Analytics, takes ages to open obviously because the site is sending data to http://analytics.google.com ?
Other sites are 100% fine.
Telkom helpdesk tells me that its due to Windows Xp SP3 security update that effects DNS, and I should install this patch (I doubt it but anyway..)
When you disable and then re-enable the LAN-side network adapter on a Windows XP SP3-based computer that is configured as a Connection Sharing host, a client computer on the network cannot access the Internet

Any ideas?
Thx
