Hi All,

Please help. I just got a Duoplus router from Telkom. My Windows 7 machine can connect with no problems. But if I try and connect with my Windows Xp machine its not working.

On the windows XP machine I get a IP address, it sends and receives packets but it wont let me on the internet. If I try ping something I just get request timed out responses.

Is it the router, does it have anything to do with IPv6.?

Any suggestions please.

Thanks

Try to put your primary and secondary DNS which you can see in the router interface into the DNS settings for your LAN connection.

First see if you can ping like www.aardvark.co.za by its IP address: 'ping 196.25.211.106'.
If that failed, then its more than just DNS server settings. If it was successful, then you need to have a look at your DNS server settings.

To test DNS lookups, use the nslookup command-line utility, eg. 'nslookup www.aardvark.co.za'.
The first 2 lines that it return should be the DNS server that it tried to query and the remaining lines should be the results, eg:
Code:
C:\Users\user>nslookup www.aardvark.co.za
Server: router.home.ip
Address: 192.168.90.1

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: www.aardvark.co.za
Address: 196.25.211.106
