CT should be building offshore wind farms like there's no tomorrow.
Costs and resources, plus I don't think our oceans are as smooth sailing as the UK.

It's just, I want someone to pay for this. I want someone to take responsibility.

I know it'll most probably never happen, I just want someone to pay for what they did.
This will never happen so long as all we (myself included) do is moan to the choir on the internet. The ANC encounter zero resistance to almost anything they do.

Thank you for the replies.

You are paying and they will keep on doing.

Well there are a few things, cost, believing the lies about renewables, cause they see 200MW and go wow that's 2 stages of shedding, when in reality it's like half a stage most of the time.

Yes, because CT is so poorly run that no-one in charge knows that renewables are variable sources of energy

Yep, given the variables with renewables.

And as far as I know, CoCT has only contracted 200MW from IPP's to date, so in reality, only just over 50MW of new capacity within the next two years.

Source please?

Edit. Nvm, found it. But they also talk about BESS to back up the renewables so we might see an actual 200MW of power from IPPs.

Edit 2. What's interesting is that we also have gas turbines. Didn't know about those.

Steenbras Hydro Pumped
Storage 180 MW Operational

Athlone Gas Turbine 40 MW Operational
Roggebaai Gas Turbine 40 MW Operational

Atlantis Ground Mounted photovoltaic system 7 – 10 MW Under development and should be commissioned during the course of 2022/23

Ground-mounted and rooftop solar PV power plants of various sizes< 1 MW each Under development and should be commissioned during the course of 2022/23

So simple question needing a simple answer.

Is load shedding pretty much on a daily basis here to stay for at least the next 5 years?

I ask because I want to make some life changing decisions based on this.

ie move overseas

Ask yourself, what is currently happening that could fix this problem and try to figure out an answer yourself.
Then, look at the population as a whole, how would they respond to the measures that could potentially reduce the issue? Then evaluate.
