Durban beachfront

It is stunning! The entire region from uShaka in the south to Moses Mabhida in the north (for now. Later the boardwalk will go all the way to Blue lagoon). The minimum width of the board walk at any point is 15m. There will be a number of new restaurant and shop nodes along the route. These will not be in place for the world cup due to restrictions placed on new developments of this sort.

At uShaka they now have a proper cocktail bar on the end of the pier. It used to just be temporary umbrellas and chairs, now it is a proper structure. Things are happening!

Yip I saw this. Think its part of Moyo's. Was keen to watch the rugby final there but realized it wasn't open for business as no lights were on and no one was inside. Bummer!

Whew! Looking good! Going to be there this time next week :D

I went there on Tuesday morning (yup, first time even in Debben). Looks pretty sweet.

Gonna make FULL use of this new beachfront.... looks awesome and I reckon it'll be great.

Do you know where one can rent bikes from on the beachfront? I'm very keen to do a pub-run from one side to the other on a bike.

What is wrong with residents enjoying the facilities?

It usually goes hand in hand with public drunkenness, urinating and defecating in public, littering on a massive scale, making fires wherever they please.
Shop owners of late also close their doors on these days because of all the schit they have experienced.

The promenade does look nice though, think they need more shade providing trees though. Use to occasionally have my take-away lunch at the sunken garden which I enjoyed.

Wow! That is absolutely amazing. Especially those who remember what the old beachfront looked like. That really looks like money bloody well spent for a change. If I was still living in Durbs ( :( ) I'd be making plenty use of the beachfront...

Was in one of the hotels last month while they were building it, have to say that they were quick.

Good start, now they just have to move one street back and revamp there as well.... feels strange driving through a dump in one street, and then marine parade being the next.

and wtf is with the derelict buildings next to silver sands?
