What is the speed of the prime package, in the real world that is? I just heard the other day that the max speed in the Durban area is 1 Mps.... can anyone confirm if this is true, that actually has the Prime package?

On Prime unlimited you supposed to get between 300-700kbs, In Woodmead area JHB - for the first 2 months I got in excess of 1Mbs - now I can barely reach 250kbs.

Is that your download speed or the speed that you are connecting at?

Problem isnt so much the speed, its the coverage. only Durban CBD and umhlanga got coverage atm afaik

and very little of Umhlanga, mostly just up Armstrong avenue I guess to try and get commercial business.

u really cry for coverage in dbn..i had coverage near my house..the following week i went to the site it was gone!

Hey Guys.

Most of durban and surrounding areas will be covered in the next 3 - 4 weeks. The problem is that installation of base stations around the city and surrounding areas has slowed due to lack of certain important hardware. This shortage should be sorted out by the end of the month.

COVERAGE

I just did a speedtest and got 1354kbps. On the Bluff.
This must not detract from the fact that Neotel is a bunch of useless incomptant numb sculls. If you want my advise, stay with your existing provider. A two year contract means you cant escape from endless problems and idiot call centre numb sculls. BEWARE !!

Moningside sucks...it's right between two connected areas(springfield and overport) and we got no reception whatsoever and i was looking forward to Neotel. Owell just have to stick with telkom and get a 4Mb line :)

What concerns me is the big drop in speed that some users are reporting. I am guessing that Neotel don't have that many subscribers at the moment but the speed drops like that??? What happened to the 10 gb/s network that these base stations are supposed to be hooked up to? And then they waited until they got 800 mhz spectrum so that they could get better range or something. Why the drop in speed if they have enough backhaul and are supposed to get good range from a tower?

Lol...Just wondering...neotel lays cable and then stops in a certain place...does that mean a base tower is going be there? Wild idea:cool::D

Possibly !

Or the other option is Connection into the BackBONE Network !
