Specifically in the Goedemoed area, but may also be affecting other parts of Durbanville

I have had a Telkom technician out who has confirmed there is network congestion on the R2 box (which is on Zandkloof Road in Goedemoed). According to someone at Telkom they are in the process of upgrading the network in Durbanville and it will be completed by 26 August

The slow response is because of the Durbanville Master that is congested. We are in the process of adding a third uplink to the Durbanville Master which will be completed by 26 August

My details

first six digits of our phone number : 021 975
ADSL line speed : 4Mbps
ISP name and account type : Afrihost Uncapped
The time of day when you typically see these problems : worst is between 5pm and 11pm at night and over weekends

I have had to downgrade to a 2mb line to have some kind of stability, but its still touch and go during the evening and on weekends

SAIX traceroute and speedtest I did on my 4mb line when the issues started

Yes, Im also in the Goedemoed area and I can confirm that I'm also struggling with congestion.

six digits: 021 979
ADSL speed: 2mbps
ISP : Openweb Gold uncapped
time: 5pm - 12am

I'll post a traceroute later

Visited my brother-in-law's place in Kenridge. Did a tracert (telkom.co.za) on a 2mb line with Telkom capped data. Hops were between 20-40ms. 1.7mbs dl speed with cap, 0.4mb dl when softcapped.

I'm also in the Goedemoed area and I have a month old open ticket with Telkom/Afrihost about this. Looks like my local telkom exchange is the one on the corner of Goedemoed & Brackenfell Blvd. There are 3 Telkom bakkies stationed there almost every day.

Six Digits: 021 979
ADSL Speed: 4Mpbs
ISP: Afrihost Business Uncapped
Time: 6pm - 12pm

The last week or so have been better, but normally I experience latencies ranging from 400 - 1500ms during above hours. Completely unworkable.

Hi I am also in Goedemoed and suffer from slow speeds - on a 2Mbps line. Slow in the evenings mostly...With Mweb.

I am in Sontstraal Heights, Durbanville. At the moment when I run traceroute the milliseconds on the second hop, which is the exchange, is over 800ms......really bad.

021 976...

My latency has been quite good for the past week or more but tonight I am getting heavy latency again : /

First six digits : 021 975
ADSL line speed : 4Mbps
ISP name and account type : Openweb / Axxess

Horrible pings, mostly after 5pm and on weekends. Tested everything I can, different routers, from different computers, different ISP, but it is still largely unusable for things like gaming, streaming, etc.

Opened a ticket with Telkom, they acknowledged that the exchange is overloaded. No ETA, so for the moment I have to keep paying them like a poephol because I need internet for work.

Everyday from 5pm-10pm and over weekends line runs at 2mb speed...if I'm lucky. Please upgrade the dslam :(

Anyone else been experiencing very erratic performance today?

Yup. Very shaky perf. Been getting it on my afri and openweb trial account. Clearly an infrastructure issue.

I'm getting over 100ms latency to Cape Town on all my accounts, some are worse than others. Thanks for the confirmation, was thinking there was a fault on my line.

Does anyone have a contact for Durbanville area? Specifically in Langeberg Road... been trying to get a telephone line.. but can't get hold of someone to just tell me.. whats going on.. or if theres no infrastructure.. or at least that it will be months.. Call centre is pretty useless.. please?

Our line started dropping today, and when it syncs it is only about 800kbps.

Anyone else struggling in the Durbanville, Aurora area?

Our line is back now with, possible sync is 7MB now, used to be 5MB.

Perhaps they were doing upgrades?

Finally got through, described the problem, and as soon as i mentioned that the account was due next week i got hung up on....
I will give it one more day then its off to the races as they say....

Glad your line is back up and running.
