this question is actually about 2 medications. i know there are a couple of members on this forum who have some medical experiences so could you please assist me. thanks.

i am currently on the durogesic patches and the oral tablet DF 118. i have the pamphlet for the durogesic patches - what i would like to know is what the ingredients are for the DF 118 tablets please. the pamphlet wasn't given to me. also the durogesic patches, what is ug/h on the box stand for? the "u" is strange looking "u".

thanks

Hi.

The ug/h on the Durogesic patches relates to the dose of medication released per hour. The ug = microgram - ergo the patch will release "x" amount of drug (fentanyl in the case of Durogesic) per hour.

DF118 is dihydrocodeine. Also an opioid type of analgesic.

Pretty serious pain meds you are on.

thank you for your help. i didn't think to google. wasn't in any frame of mind quite frankly.

why on two different opiods? it is like taking advil and voltaren together. and durogesic is hella expensive. hope you are better soon celine. (and watch out for constipation)

Fentanyl; 100 times more potent than morphine. Wow.
Well morphine is strong enough to kill pretty much any pain.

That 100 times is deceptive though. Remember its all about dose. So maybe they use 1/200 of the dose used for morphine so it ends up being 1/2 as strong. ;)

On a side note, just read in the news that the US plans to replace morphine shots for soldiers with fentanyl infused lollipops. Weird, but kinda makes sense I suppose.

hello everyone who read this topic and responded.

sorry i didn't respond further and answer to any of you who may have wanted to know why i was on these extreme painkillers but i don't talk to anyone when i am experiencing pain like this.

this is the RSD that i have and about a month or so ago i started experiencing extreme pain in my hands. i can only put it down to being extremely busy this year with my business. i stopped using the computer completely for a week and it didn't help at all.

so i decided to change doctors. i was desperate. my new GP gave me this new medication after having been on various strong painkillers since 2005. am i ever so grateful that i changed doctors. since getting these tablets i have used a total of 6 over the past 2 weeks and haven't even used the patches. there has been no need to use the patches at all the tablets have worked wonders for this pain. the only side effect i've had is a dull head ache when i have used the tablet.

i was only able to get this script at a hospital pharmacy, i didn't realise that these 2 painkillers were so regulated. it cost me a fortune LOL. but i have these now and i'm sure they will last me for a long time. i have 5 patches and 30 tablets.

just thought i would let you know why i got these strong meds.

Well, I wasn't imagining they had the same dose as morphine, obviously.
